A spectacular pavilion designed for Samsung for installation at the 2012 London Olympics, the Galaxy is an experiential brand promotion, a three-dimensional sculpture that creates a unique visitor experience through the use of mobile technology. Intended as a constantly evolving spectacle of light and colour, the Galaxy Pavilion receives information from mobile devices and translates it into imagery and light. The entire structure is alive with a fast-moving tapestry of information and thoughts.
Visitors enter beneath the suspended Galaxy and sit on the Landscape, an undulating structure that sits above offices, lounges, plant and a kiosk, rising up at various points to allow people to walk inside the Galaxy space itself. This complex space frame structure is clad in translucent weatherproof screens that also form projection surfaces. Designed to be easily demountable and transferrable to different locations, the Samsung Pavilion is architecture as spectacle, a technological showcase that creates a truly immersive experience.
