The Rug Company Showroom
/ Chelsea Design Centre / March 2024 / 150 sqm
The concept behind the store is “creative laboratory meets luxury apartment.” The aim is to play on the juxtaposition between the bold materials and the clean forms of the lab and the intricate details and soft furnishings of an apartment.
The 150 sqm showroom has been divided into different zones. The space is open plan but creates different areas to fit the unique criteria required of the space.
The dedicated lab room is to be focused on bespoke project creation. It is to have a glass screen for privacy during virtual or confidential meetings. The creative library space will provide all colour options, samples and rug constructions at an arm’s reach, with a large wall-mounted screen. The clinical neutral theme is created with grey tones and stainless steel detailing. The bar, clad in green marble, will be a key feature in the space and a conversation starter. It will have the dual function of being a refreshment area, a space to have informal discussions day-to-day and a centrepiece during events and product launches. There will be a fridge, coffee facilities and bar stools.
The room set is designed to allow for the display of key product lines, with rotating installations. The space will feature a large floor rug, seating, coffee table, wall hanging rug space and a large digital screen display to showcase choreographed images to clients. The shelving provided will allow the set to be styled differently for each installation.
The 20m bespoke double-sided display wall will not only act as a feature window piece but also make the sample display within the shop much more dramatic and bolder. It will link the front and the back of the shop. Showcasing samples, full-size rugs and wall hangings without blocking natural light. It will be designed to educate the customer and draw them further into the shop whilst also housing planting respites all through that journey.
